Payroll Manager

Artis Finance & Accountancy are partnering with a leading manufacturing business in Newport to recruit an experienced and detail-driven Payroll Manager. This is a pivotal position, giving you full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process while working alongside a Payroll Coordinator to ensure smooth, accurate, and timely payroll delivery every month.

What you’ll be doing:

• Taking charge of gross-to-net calculations, statutory deductions, and HMRC compliance
• Managing auto-enrolment pensions, liaising with providers, and ensuring accurate records
• Leading on P11D, PSA reporting, benefits, and expenses compliance
• Overseeing payroll journals, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Supporting starters, leavers, and employee record changes
• Acting as the go-to expert for payroll queries across HR and Finance

What we’re looking for:

• 3–5 years’ payroll experience, ideally within a similar role
• Strong technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation
• Excellent Excel and payroll accounting skills
• Experience with Civica People Hub and/or Workday (highly desirable)
• CIPP qualification (advantageous but not essential)
• Sharp attention to detail, proactive mindset, and confidence engaging with stakeholders
