Job Description Search & Apply Job description Paralegal (5759) Paralegal Ascent is one of the UK's largest specialist debt recovery law firms with an excellent reputation in the market dealing with debt recovery, mediation, litigation, field services, enforcement, and mortgage lender services. Role Overview As a paralegal will support solicitors and legal teams in managing litigation cases from pre-action through to trial and post-judgment. This role involves preparing legal documents, conducting research, liaising with clients and courts, and ensuring the smooth progression of cases in line with legal procedures and firm standards. Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Independently manage all components of a litigation-based debt recovery process through professional telephone engagement, ensuring compliance with legal protocols and representing client interests with accuracy, discretion, and integrity
- Compile witness statements or completion of court documentation for clients and customers as required as part of the recovery process.
- Ensure all work undertaken is in line with internal and client service level agreements.
- Liaise with external third-party companies, agents or other representing parties as required.
- Treat all customers fairly, professionally and act within legislation, compliance and codes of practice.
- In addition to the above, the Paralegal may be required to carry out any other reasonable request as required by the Team Leader/Head of Department.
- Answer client queries and provide status updates/advice in a professional and efficient manner whether this is via email communication or verbally via the telephone.
EssentialKnowledge, Skills & Experience
- Law degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of Scottish law and legal System
- Computer literate in all Microsoft Office programs
- Has a strong attention to detail
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Comfortable handling large workload under time constraints
- Strong organisational skills
Desirable
- Previous experience in a legal environment or specific legal practice area
