đź’Ą Take the Lead on High-Impact Civil Projects in Manchester and Beyond đź’Ą

BakerHicks is seeking a Chartered Principal Civil Engineer to lead major infrastructure projects across industrial, infrastructure, and urban sectors. This is a strategic role for someone who combines technical authority, client leadership, and team mentorship, delivering complex civil designs and driving high standards across projects.

Your role:

  • Lead the delivery of high-profile aviation, rail, and urban infrastructure projects
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to multidisciplinary design teams
  • Act as the primary client-facing engineer, offering expert advice and building strong professional relationships
  • Oversee design coordination for earthworks, drainage, pavements, external works, and 3D underground services
  • Influence project planning, design strategy, and delivery approaches
  • Represent BakerHicks as a trusted authority in civil engineering

What you bring:

  • Fully Chartered Civil Engineer (ICE) or close to being chartered
  • Proven experience leading complex UK civil projects within a design consultancy
  • Expert knowledge of earthworks, drainage, pavements, and external works
  • Strong experience managing multidisciplinary teams and projects
  • Commercial awareness and excellent client engagement skills
  • Ability to drive technical standards, design solutions, and innovative approaches

Bonus points:

  • Broad sector experience including aviation, rail, and urban infrastructure
  • Record of implementing innovative civil engineering solutions
