Job Overview This is an exciting and unique secondment opportunity for an experienced Lived Experience practitioner who is passionate about improving care for young adults. CNWL has developed and implemented a new Young Adult Partnership model which aims to improve this population’s experience of using mental health services. This includes the Young Adult Peer Support service and the Discovery College. This role will support the development and ongoing delivery of CNWL’s Young Adult Peer Support service and Lived Experience Practice provision within community young adult mental health services. This will include close working, management and supervision of peer workers within community mental health services. Across these services, the post holder will work to ensure Peer Support Worker roles are undertaken in line with trust wide policies and practices, and they are suitably supported with their work and that the Recovery agenda is maintained across sites. This role will lead the 'Discover Together' programme within the Discovery College. The courses are created by mental health experts and people with lived experience of using mental health services. Each course is a collaborative space to have open conversations and try new things which help sustain good mental health. Designed by young adults, for young adults. Main duties of the job

- To supervise and line manage the Young Adult Peer Support Workers (5 x Band 3)
- To ensure all Peer Support Workers and Lived Experience Practitioners have a clear, up to date and expert offering to those they work with in regards to community resources to support recovery and social inclusion.
- To promote understanding of the principles and practice of the peer and lived experience practitioner roles across CAMHS and the 16-25-year old delivery model
- To lead the development of materials which celebrate and promote the peer contribution to service delivery e.g. videos, booklets, leaflets, audio recordings, posters etc.
- To contribute to site-based management meetings and locality wide meetings regarding the development of Peer Support Workers and Lived Experience Practitioner roles
- To contribute as a leading stakeholder to the delivery and management of the ‘Discovery College’, a Recovery and Wellbeing College spoke dedicated to this age group. This will include attending and organising meetings to report on the feedback and delivery of the Discovery College and regular liaison with the central Recovery and Wellbeing College team.
Person specification Education And Qualifications Essential criteria
- Completion of Peer Support Training
- Postgraduate degree or able to demonstrate equivalent skills in research, writing or analysis
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Recovery-focused and peer support related training activities
Previous Experience Essential criteria
- Lived experience of recovery from mental and emotional distress
- Lived experience of using secondary care mental health services as a child or adolescent and of transfer of care from CAMHS to Adult Mental Health Services
- Experience as a peer worker
- Experience in using electronic patient records systems such as RiO, SystemOne or care notes
- Experience of teaching and training or facilitating groupwork
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate first person experiential knowledge of recovery at an expert leve
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the concept of personal recovery as it may apply to others
- Understanding of the issues and concerns of child and adolescent mental health service users, young people and of their parents/guardians/carers/families
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice
