A bit about the role
Reporting to the Senior Design Technician the role is undertake the design of timber roof truss structures and quantify associated components in accordance with the customer’s architectural designs, the agreed specification, and structural engineering guidance. This requires to be carried out within the required budgetary costs, in terms of both product costs and design timescales, and to the requisite quality standards.
You’ll ensure accuracy of approved drawings, production designs and purchase order requests for the trussed roof structure, associated materials, and fascia and soffit products, while ensuring each design meets standards for programme compliance, quality, budget, and health & safety.
Our Design Technicians are core to the operation of our business and as a key member of the team you’ll be proactive in offering solutions to value engineer for our customers, while working as part of a wider team to deliver great customer service.
- Deliver design which meets criteria for customer service, HSE&Q, budgetary limitations while working within the standard system protocols.
- Ensure accuracy of approved drawings, production designs and purchase order requests for the trussed roof structure, associated materials, and fascia and soffit products
- Ensure design meets agreed standards for programme compliance, quality and budgets
- Ensure designs are value engineered to meet internal and external customer requirements
- Proactively offer appropriate solutions using alternative materials, provide support with design related queries, and to recognise and communicating project variations
Your Skills
You must have truss design experience and a good working knowledge of MiTek PAMIR and AutoCAD, or alternative truss design software such as Wolf Systems or Gang-Nail.
Well train you with your own growth plan so you’re ready for the next steps in your career.
You’ll also have excellent communication and organisation skills, you can plan your working week, manage time, information, and reporting. You ideally have experience within the construction industry.

This role is based at one of our office locations - Witney – Oxfordshire, Westhill- Aberdeenshire or Plains – North Lanarkshire. Home / office hybrid working is also available. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with an opportunity for flexible working.
