Logistics Operations Manager

Egan Vale is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established, fast-paced logistics company based in the West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join a growing business with an extensive fleet ranging from vans through to articulated vehicles and refrigerated trailers.

The Role

As Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of the operation, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high service levels across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct reports, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transport and logistics operations across a diverse fleet
• Manage, lead, and develop a well-established operations team
• Plan and coordinate vehicle utilisation, routing, and resource allocation
• Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, health & safety, and company procedures
• Monitor KPIs, service performance, and cost control
• Use and manage Transport Management Systems (TMS) to optimise operational performance
• Produce reports and operational data using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Act as a key point of contact between drivers, planners, customers, and senior management
• Respond flexibly to operational demands, including out-of-hours requirements where necessaryKey Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Operations Manager (or similar senior operational) role within logistics or transport
• Proven experience managing people with direct reports
• Strong knowledge of transport operations and fleet management
• Fully competent with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Confident and up to date in using Transport Management Systems (TMS)
• Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Flexible approach to working hours to meet business demandsWhat’s on Offer
