Human Resources Information System Specialist

We’re looking for an experienced HRIS Specialist to join our team in Birmingham. This is a office‑based role, ideal for someone with strong hands‑on experience configuring HR and/or Payroll systems, and practical knowledge across HR processes, payroll and people data.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting and enhancing our HR and Payroll system (Workday)
• Configuring system changes across HCM, Time Tracking, Absence and/or Payroll (at least one required)
• Managing integrations between Workday and downstream systems
• Acting as a subject matter expert for HR systems, data and best practice
• Supporting system releases, upgrades, testing (UAT) and implementations
• Managing incidents, BAU system support and continuous improvements
• Partnering closely with HR, IT and regional stakeholders
• Supporting payroll configuration changes, pay awards and mass data updates
• Ensuring data governance, security access and GDPR compliance

What we’re looking for

• Hands‑on experience with HR and/or Payroll systems
• Strong experience configuring HRIS modules (HCM, Time, Absence or Payroll)
• Understanding of HR and payroll data and payroll processing
• Experience with integrations, testing (UAT) and system change delivery
• Confident using reporting tools and Excel
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
• Experience with Workday, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft or Zellis

Nice to have

• Experience in a shared services or complex, multi‑site environment
• Exposure to automation or complex terms and conditions
