Title: Solution Architect

Type: Permanent, full-time

Location: Birmingham (hybrid)

Salary: up to £80K

Overview:

We are seeking a Solution Architect to take ownership of shaping and validating technology solutions that support organisational change and long‑term strategic objectives.

Reporting into the senior technology leadership team, this role works across business and delivery functions to ensure solutions are robust, secure, scalable, and commercially viable. You will operate across both core platforms and supporting systems, contributing architectural direction throughout the delivery lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing:

• Define and own solution designs spanning applications, data, integrations, and cloud infrastructure, adopting modern and automation‑led approaches where appropriate
• Turn business and operational needs into clear technical designs, models, and documentation
• Provide architectural oversight to ensure solutions are aligned to internal standards, principles, and future direction
• Identify and manage technical risk, dependencies, and non‑functional requirements such as security, performance, and availability
• Partner closely with stakeholders across technology, delivery, and external suppliers to guide solution decisions
• Support teams from early discovery through build, deployment, and transition into live service
• Contribute to design standards, reusable patterns, and continuous improvement initiatives

What we’re looking for:

• Significant experience in a Solution Architect or senior design capacity (typically 5+ years)
• Strong grasp of contemporary architectures (cloud‑based systems, APIs, distributed services, automation/AI‑enabled solutions)
• Experience designing across multiple technical domains rather than a single platform
• Comfortable operating in agile, cross‑functional delivery environments
• Confident communicator, able to engage both technical teams and non‑technical stakeholders
• Experience working with third‑party delivery partners and suppliers
