Net Talent are partnered with a dynamic and rapidly growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Glasgow, delivering cutting-edge IT solutions and support to a diverse range of clients across industries. Their mission is to empower businesses providing excellent service for great value by designing, implementing, and managing robust IT infrastructures that drive operational efficiency and innovation.

As they continue their growth, they are looking to recruit an IT Infrastructure Engineer to work on multiple projects provide cutting edge IT solutions.

Role Overview:

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will be a key member of the technical team, responsible for implementing high-performing, scalable, and secure IT infrastructures for a varied client base. You’ll leverage your expertise in the Microsoft technology stack and networking to build solutions that align with business goals, ensuring seamless operations and future scalability.

The majority of clients are SME businesses looking to modernise their technology, our client takes them on this journey with typical projects ranging from Server/ Exchange/ Cloud/ SharePoint migrations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical escalation contact for clients and the support team.
  • Respond to and prioritise alerts from monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with the team to take ownership of and resolve incidents and service requests at a senior level.
  • Proactively identify risks and highlight opportunities that protect client businesses and add value.
  • Coordinate with third parties on behalf of clients to resolve issues effectively.
  • Support team knowledge transfer to promote ongoing skill development and ensure broad expertise across the business.
  • Carry out planned technical changes within designated maintenance windows.
  • Work closely with vendors and third-party providers to ensure smooth integration of new systems.
  • Gather client requirements and convert them into actionable technical change requests.
  • Support the deployment of new infrastructure solutions based on client needs or enhance existing infrastructure to improve performance, resilience, and security.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to provide clients with modern and secure infrastructure solutions.
  • Document all technical changes, configurations, and upgrades thoroughly.
  • Maintain up-to-date project and support documentation.

We are looking skills in most of the following;

  • Proven IT support and technical change
  • Server technology and operating system
  • Exchange Server and Exchange Online general support
  • Virtualisation technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V and associated networking/storage
  • Cloud Infrastructure/Platforms such as Azure and Office 365
  • Understanding of networking LAN/WAN technologies
  • Backup/Replication Technologies
  • PowerShell and scripting ability
  • Security tooling experience
  • Ability to work across a range of clients with different infrastructure and documentation
  • Experience of updating technical documentation and ensuring internal processes are accurate following changes
