NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. This is a fixed term for post 6 months working 40 hours per week on full shifts. The post will be for 6 months and will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Applications are invited for the above post in General Internal Medicine, based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow. This post will commence in Aug 2025. This post is not part of the National recruitment process for Specialty Training in Acute Internal Medicine and is not recognised for training by NHS Education for Scotland. The post will provide an opportunity for ongoing development of skills and experience in General Internal Medicine for 6 months. This post is aimed at doctors who have completed 4 - 5 years of training and are considering a career in General Internal Medicine, an acute medical speciality, or Intensive Care Medicine. To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a license to practice. The successful applicant will take a full part in the Medical Senior daytime and on-call rota (50% rota banding). Due to the high number of applicants this post may close early. Interviews will be held 2 weeks following the post closing.
- Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date, will be asked to submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST). The CREST form must be completed by a consultant who has worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole-time equivalent wholly within the 3.5 years prior to the advertised post start date for which you are applying.
