Job Description

Posted on: June 12, 2026

If you’re passionate about supporting customers to sustain their tenancies, improve their wellbeing, and access the services they need to live safely and independently, this role based in Newport and surrounding areas could be a great fit for you. As a Housing & Wellbeing Advisor, you will work directly with individuals facing a range of challenges, using a compassionate and person-centred approach to build resilience, promote stability, and achieve positive outcomes. The role also involves working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver coordinated support and wellbeing initiatives that positively impacts overall customer wellbeing and housing stability.

About the role

As a Housing and Wellbeing Advisor, you will support customers to improve their wellbeing, strengthen their resilience, and sustain their tenancy. Working directly with individuals, you will take a compassionate, person-centred approach to help them navigate challenges such as housing-related issues, financial pressures, and mental health needs. Your focus will be on enabling customers to access appropriate support, build confidence, and achieve positive, lasting change.

Building strong relationships will be central to this role. You will work collaboratively with customers, colleagues, and external partners to deliver coordinated and meaningful support. Through effective partnership working, you will connect individuals with a wide range of services, including health providers, support agencies, and community organisations, ensuring a joined-up approach that places the customer at the heart of service delivery.

Skills and Experience Needed

We are looking for someone with experience supporting individuals within housing, wellbeing, or community-based settings, who is confident in building strong, trusted relationships with people who may be vulnerable or facing a range of barriers. You will be comfortable working collaboratively with partner organisations, managing a diverse and sometimes complex workload, and communicating with empathy and understanding.

A good understanding of trauma-informed approaches and the challenges that can affect a person’s ability to sustain their home is essential. You will also be confident using digital systems to accurately record information and stay organised in a fast-paced environment. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are important, along with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
