Technical Manager – Fire & Water Restoration (High-Net-Worth Claims)
Location: Watford HQ
London & South East Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 + Bonus + Company Vehicle
Full-time, Permanent | Reports to: the Directors
Our Ambition
Prime Disaster Response has one clear goal: to be the restoration company insurers turn to first for high-net-worth claims. We work directly with service-driven insurers, loss adjusters and private clients across London and the South East, and have built a strong reputation for responsiveness, technical competence and the way our people conduct themselves in clients' homes.
The next stage is to build on that position: to raise our standards further and to grow.
The Opportunity
Our technical function is built on solid foundations: established standards, sound processes and a capable team. We now want a Technical Manager to take that base and make the role their own. This role is about accelerating the development and performance of our technical team, not maintaining it.
You will shape how we train, lead and deliver in the field, and you will play a direct part in growing the business alongside the Directors.
What you will do
- Lead our field managers and senior technicians, and develop them into a high-performing team
- Raise technical standards to the level high-net-worth clients, insurers and adjusters expect on every job
- Design and deliver structured training – induction, refresher and upskilling – with measurable improvement in capability
- Plan and allocate resource across several teams and live jobs as workload grows
- Own health and safety and compliance in the field, with the aim of zero avoidable incidents
- Understand job profitability and bring commercial judgement to technical decisions
- Act as one of the senior technical points of contact for insurers and adjusters, and build their confidence in us
- Work with the Directors on growth: capacity, new capabilities and how the technical team supports new business
- Identify and implement improvements to tools, methods, reporting and scheduling
What success looks like after 12 months
- Insurer and adjuster confidence maintained and strengthened, evidenced by internal audit and client feedback
- An agreed training program delivered on schedule
- Field managers and senior technicians who are measurably more capable and confident
- Visible leadership of health and safety, with compliant RAMS, site inspections and toolbox talks evidenced by internal audit
- At least one improvement that has made a measurable difference to efficiency or job margin
- A technical team with the capacity and structure to take on more work
Who we are looking for
You will have substantial technical experience in disaster restoration, insurance repairs or property claims, including responsibility for leading other people. You may be operating at this level now and want a business where you can shape the function and see the results of your decisions.
Or you may have held a senior role in a larger organisation and want to be closer to the work, with real influence. We would welcome a conversation either way.
The right person will:
- Have the technical credibility to set standards and make sound judgements on difficult jobs
- Develop people rather than simply direct them
- Be comfortable discussing cost, margin and resourcing with Directors
- Build frameworks and processes rather than simply follow them
- Be motivated by building something, not only running it
- Take pride in doing things properly
Requirements
- Proven experience in fire and water damage restoration claims
- Experience of leading or supervising a field team
- Full UK driving licence
- Based within one hour of Watford
- BDMA, IICRC (WRT/ASD/FSRT), CSCS or IOSH qualifications would be an advantage.
What we offer
- Salary of £42,000 – £48,000, depending on experience
- Company vehicle
- Bonus scheme
- The opportunity to make the role your own
- Direct involvement with the Directors in shaping the growth of the business
- Investment in your own development, including management training
How to apply
Please submit your CV with a short covering note setting out why you think this role suits you, what you would do in your first six months to raise the performance of a technical team and how you would interact with the current management structure.
