2921 – Data Privacy SME – Aberdeen (part-time)
We are seeking an experienced Privacy Specialist to lead regulatory compliance and data protection initiatives. In this role, you will ensure adherence to UK data protection laws and GDPR, develop and maintain privacy policies, manage risk assessments, and conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments for new projects. You’ll oversee incident response, audits, and continuous improvement to keep pace with evolving privacy regulations. The ideal candidate holds a relevant degree, professional privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM), and brings proven experience in UK/EU privacy roles, with strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities. This is a part-time position working 2 days per week.

What you’ll do
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with UK data protection laws, GDPR, and other relevant privacy regulations
- Policy Development: Develop, review, and update privacy policies and procedures
- Risk Management: Identify and assess privacy risks; propose and implement mitigation strategies
- Data Protection Impact Assessments: Lead and conduct DPIAs for new contracts, projects and technologies
- Incident Management: Manage and respond to privacy incidents and breaches
- Audits and Monitoring: Conduct privacy audits and monitor compliance
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging privacy trends and laws; recommend improvements
What to bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, or related field
- Professional certification in privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM)
- Proven experience in a privacy role, preferably within the UK or EU context
- Deep understanding of UK data protection laws, GDPR, and other international privacy regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
