Footwear and Accessories Technologist Job Spec
This role acts as a gatekeeper of quality to prevent potential issues with fit and construction, collaborating with design, buyers and suppliers to ensure that all products meet / exceed industry standards in terms of quality and design aesthetics.
THE ROLE
• Responsible for complete technical support for the footwear and accessories business
• Update product fit comments and sample feedback, providing technical instructions to the suppliers
• Analyse and review new / existing lasts, pattern constructions, and all footwear for fit, construction, and overall quality, while helping to maintain the overall brand aesthetic appeal and compliance standards of the products
• Liaise with Design to effectively execute product concept from protocol to production
• Diagnose and correct issues at development onset that may interfere with quality, fit or compromise deadlines.
• Manage testing across all areas and assessment of end results
• Updating the critical path from proto sample to bulk production, in conjunction with the buyers
• Lead fit sessions and accurately communicate corrections with the factory
• Liaise with suppliers and factories to ensure technical issues are resolved and within the best available time frame
• Work to on board new suppliers in line with company compliance procedures
• Develop the department in all technical areas including fit quality, sustainability, new technology etc
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Previous experience in footwear fits and/or accessory approvals is desired but not essential
• Possesses the understanding of manufacturing, development and related processes
• Capable of managing development projects from concept to completion
• Detail oriented, creates and maintains useful records
• Checks, influences, and confirms specifications and materials.
• Ability to work and communicate well in structured and timely manner under pressure within a team environment
• Innovative and creative thinker
• Self-Starter and takes initiative
• Possesses a sense of responsibility and ownership
• Manages multiple projects and multi-tasks well
• Capable of leading, training and motivating
• Excellent computer skills
• Maintains good relationships with factories and suppliers
• Promotes a strong sense of team based on trust and mutual respect for others
