A high‑volume, multi‑product retailer is entering a major phase of growth, with strong trading performance across the estate and an accelerated new‑store opening programme. With significant investment behind the commercial function and a clear strategy to scale, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Buyer who thrives in a fast‑paced, value‑driven environment and wants to play a central role in shaping the next stage of the journey.
The Opportunity
As Senior Buyer, you’ll take full ownership of a key FMCG category, setting the strategy, driving commercial performance and building ranges that deliver unbeatable value for customers. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where you’ll influence the direction of the category, unlock new opportunities, and help the business evolve as it grows at pace.
You’ll work across the full buying lifecycle — from strategy and supplier negotiations to range development, pricing, promotions and supporting new store openings. This is an ideal move for someone who loves the pace of discount retail, enjoys taking ownership, and wants to make a visible impact in a business that’s scaling fast.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead end‑to‑end category management, driving sales, margin and customer value
- Build and execute clear category strategies aligned to growth plans
- Identify commercial opportunities to accelerate performance in a high‑volume model
- Develop strong supplier partnerships and negotiate market‑leading terms
- Create compelling, customer‑focused ranges that balance trend, value and volume
- Support business transformation by bringing structure, pace and innovation to the category
- Work closely with merchandising, supply chain and operations to ensure flawless execution
- Ensure categories are scalable and optimised for a growing store estate
- Coach and support junior team members, contributing to a high‑performing buying function
What You’ll Bring
- Senior Buyer experience, or a strong Buyer ready to step up
- A proven track record in FMCG within discounter, value or high‑volume retail
- Evidence of delivering sales growth and improving category performance
- A hands‑on, delivery‑focused approach with the ability to build and execute plans
- Strong negotiation and supplier management capability
- Commercial sharpness with the ability to balance trading urgency with long‑term thinking
- High analytical capability and confidence using data to drive decisions
- Resilience, pace and the ability to thrive in a fast‑moving environment
- Natural leadership qualities and the ability to influence across the business
