Job Description

Posted on: March 10, 2026

The North Middlesex Hospital Staff Psychological Wellbeing Service is looking to recruit a Band 7 Psychological Therapist. We are looking for a therapist who can offer psychological therapy to staff members experiencing common mental health problems – this could be any suitably qualified Psychological Therapist, for example, a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, an accredited CBT Therapist, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist or Systemic Psychotherapist. HCPC registration plus membership of the appropriate professional body is required. We are looking for someone who can be part of the development of a new service model, as we move away from the acute phase of the pandemic and offer ongoing support to hospital staff, many of whom work in challenging roles. We welcome interested applicants to contact us to find out more about this exciting opportunity. Please contact Steven Livingstone (Consultant Psychologist / Head of Staff Psychological Wellbeing), email steven.livingstone5@nhs.net / 07816359822. The Staff Psychological Wellbeing Service exists to support the emotional wellbeing of all our staff. We offer a range of individual and group support options and aim to embed a culture of positive wellbeing across the whole organisation. Our staff are qualified mental health professionals who are trained to provide a range of evidence-based psychological therapies. In addition to 1:1 therapy, we also offer the following services:

  • The Wellbeing Room: a space to relax, decompress and unwind
  • Regular, interactive, educational workshops and activities covering topics like stress management, self-care and sleep hygiene
  • Serious Incident Aftercare: we co-ordinate group debriefs following serious incidents for teams/staff groups involved in stressful or traumatic events in the workplace.
  • Outreach, Consultation & Support: we link with managers and leaders to help build culture of wellbeing into team structures and processes. We offer consultation to teams and managers to help them to better understand team dynamics and functioning, especially where this is having an impact on staff wellbeing.

We are therefore looking to recruit a therapist with an interest in training and supporting teams. The post will suit someone who is flexible and is committed to continuous improvement. We welcome innovations and a readiness to try out new ideas as part of our commitment to quality improvement and the development of our staff. North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Hospital Trust (NMUH) is one of London’s busiest healthcare providers, providing hospital care and community services for the 350,000 people living in Enfield, Haringey and beyond. Our specialist services include HIV, cardiology, blood disorders, diabetes, fertility, sickle cell and thalassemia. In addition to a full range of cancer diagnosis and treatment services, the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre is based on-site and provides services to support cancer patients’ wellbeing. We also provide community services and have a dedicated 0-19 service for children and young people in Enfield so that they can get the best possible start in life. This includes health visitors and school nurses who are delivering the national Healthy Child Programme, which provides a structured framework for the delivery of key interventions to support the health and wellbeing of children and families from 0 to 5 and school aged children from 5-19. The 0-19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for the children and families.
