Description/Job Summary To assist the firm’s billing function to help the firm achieve its financial targets by providing an efficient and commercially focused service. Responsibilities/Duties
- Establishing relationships in order to gain knowledge about the clients and matters of the departments quickly;
- Following up on matters that have concluded or have reached billing stage and ensuring they are responded to in a timely manner;
- Conducting a regular review of Work In Progress (WIP) and Accounts receivable (AR) for your Partners;
- Assist at meetings with Partners and fee earners to discuss WIP & AR, in order to determine most appropriate course of action;
- Ensuring the timely processing of bills, checking VAT and numerical calculations on bills and compliance to VAT, Solicitors Accounts Rules and AML regulations;
- Ensuring the timely delivery and payment of invoices;
- Assist with the ebilling delivery of invoices;
- Continued maintenance of the matter comments - unbilled and AR;
- Maintenance of transfers of time/cost and write-offs, production of credit notes where necessary;
- Regular analysis of client/matter information in relation to archiving; and
- Keeping Partners and fee earners up-to-date on outstanding matters and invoices
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience of working in a legal environment including exposure to billing, VAT, disbursements and collections;
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules;
- An understanding or experience of billing and collecting in a foreign currency and associated issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong skills in Excel;
- Experience of using Elite 3E required;
- Capable of being well organised with good writing skills;
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise;
- Ability to organise work flow and use time efficiently;
- Ability to be accurate and show an attention to detail;
- Capable of working within a high-charged, fast-paced environment;
- Flexibility to adapt to all work situations and demands as required; and
- Available to work additional hours where necessary
