Lead Engineer

Square Mile Coffee Roasters is a multi-award-winning coffee roasting company based in East London. We are focused on providing support to businesses that wish to serve the best coffee they can. We want to make London famous for good coffee. We source, buy, import, roast and deliver the best coffee we can get a hold of, and we never stop asking ourselves how we can make it even better.

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to coordinate day-to-day operations and provide excellent customer service to our wholesale customers. 

They will play a key role in supporting growth, development, and profitability within the engineering department, eventually scaling the team and providing direct management to new personnel.

Role Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): 

- Serve as the main point of contact for customer equipment support

- Nurture and develop customer relationships, alongside the wider Wholesale team

- Drive growth and develop our strategy as the engineering department lead

- Complete engineer performance reports and track sales targets

- Perform new equipment installations

- Schedule and complete routine maintenance on customer equipment

- Attend customer call-outs promptly

- Complete monthly stocktakes

- Place part and equipment orders to maintain stock par levels

- Monitor Engineer Risk Assessments and Method Statements

- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and procedures

Required Key Skills: 

- Engineering experience relevant to the coffee industry

- Excellent technical knowledge of coffee-related machinery

- Ability to dial in espresso to a given recipe on various machine types

- Confident in IT and computer knowledge

- Excellent customer service and communication

- Good teamwork and organisation

- A meticulous and detailed approach to all aspects of the role 

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

- Good problem-solving skills and a creative approach to new ideas

- Proof of the right to work in the UK

- A full, clean driving licence

Other Information:

This position is mainly worked Monday through Friday; occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
