We are currently recruiting experienced IT professionals to cross train as Platform & Reliability Engineer, and subsequently gain a contract working with our client - one of the biggest banks in the Finance Industry!

As a trained Platform & Reliability Engineer, your role could involve:
A PRE ensures the stability, scalability, and performance of infrastructure platforms by blending software engineering with systems operations.
You will automate, monitor, and manage cloud resources, focusing on reducing manual toil, improving uptime, and implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to support developer workflows.
To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them.
- Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Resolution, analysis and response to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
- Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
- Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for performance tuning.
- Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
We will equip you with a tailored learning and development plan, to help you throughout your two years with us.
What we are looking for
To apply for this program, you’ll need:
- Minimum of 2-3 years strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Experience with Cloud Platforms - AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Tools: Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD tools.
- Strong understanding of SRE principles, DevOps culture, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience working in an AGILE or SCRUM SDLC model and ability to work within a global team

You’ll also need to be:
- Willing to commit to a minimum of two years working with Revolent, post-training (with the possibility of converting to the client’s permanent headcount, following the successful completion of your work placement)
- Able to commute to Glasgow in Scotland
This is a hybrid role with a mix of office based and remote work. Successful applicants will be required to travel to our client’s office in Glasgow at their request for 2-3 days a week.
