Vero Recruitment has been exclusively appointed to recruit a Group Financial Controller for a fast-growing, globally recognised energy service company.

This is a pivotal, newly created leadership role within a values-led organisation that has built an exceptional reputation for reliability, technical excellence and delivery across international markets.

Who is our client:

Our client is an established, international services business operating within the offshore and subsea environment. The organisation supports complex, safety-critical projects globally and has built a strong reputation for consistent delivery, operational discipline and technical capability.

The business is entering its next phase of growth, supported by long-term investment and a broader international platform. With a clear focus on continuous improvement, strong governance and people development, it offers a stable yet progressive environment for a senior finance professional who wants both visibility and longevity.

The opportunity:

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Group Financial Controller will take ownership of the Group finance function at a critical point in the organisation’s evolution.

This role offers high visibility, autonomy and influence across the business, working closely with operational, commercial and international stakeholders. You will lead the Aberdeen-based finance team while building strong working relationships with colleagues across the wider Group internationally.

It is a rare opportunity to step into a senior, broad-ranging financial leadership role within a stable, well-capitalised business that is entering its next phase of growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the Group finance function
  • Production of accurate, timely monthly management accounts, including KPI reporting and variance analysis
  • Ownership of annual statutory and PE reporting, working closely with external auditors to meet all deadlines
  • Daily cash management, including preparation and ownership of 13-week cash flow forecasts
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes across the Group
  • Partner with operational and commercial teams, providing financial insight to support decision-making
  • Oversight of Group tax compliance in collaboration with the Group Tax Manager
  • Lead Group insurance renewals and policy management
  • Ownership of Capex control and reporting, including cost and variance analysis
  • Support ongoing system improvements and accounting system upgrades
  • Develop and enhance Group financial processes, controls and policies
  • Oversee onshore and offshore payroll and benefits administration
  • Lead, develop and mentor the finance team, supporting growth and capability building
  • Act as deputy to the Finance Director when required

Who we’re looking to attract:

  • Professionally qualified accountant
  • Strong industry experience in a similar role
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving business environment
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence across functions and geographies
  • Experience of systems such as D365 is advantageous
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working with autonomy
  • Trusted, discreet and values-led in approach
  • A collaborative leader who enjoys developing people and improving how things are done

Why this role:

  • Senior, visible leadership position within a growing international business
  • Exposure to strategic change, diversification and expansion
  • Genuine autonomy and influence
  • Strong financial backing and long-term stability
  • Opportunity to shape finance capability as the business scales
