What's on Offer?

The careers service from Worcestershire County Council’s Skills and Employability Service is launching a 10-week Summer of Support campaign to connect young people aged 16-24 with careers advisers who can help them explore their options and plan their next steps.

From CV writing and interview preparation to apprenticeships, education, training and employment opportunities, support will be available throughout the summer.

World Cup of Work

Kicking off with the World Cup of Work, inspired by the FIFA World Cup, as nations battle it out on the pitch, Careers Worcs has assigned a job to every country taking part. Young people can follow the fortunes of roles ranging from Software Developers and Teachers to Pilots and Firefighters as the tournament unfolds. By the end of the competition, one career will be crowned World Cup of Work champion.

At The Hive in Worcester, visitors can take on the World Cup of Work Top Trumps challenge, explore career pathways and speak to advisers about their next steps.

Apprenticeship Support

Throughout the campaign, anyone interested in apprenticeships can also book a free appointment with a virtual Worcestershire Apprenticeships adviser, helping them explore apprenticeship opportunities, applications and career pathways across Worcestershire and beyond.

Expert Advice

Coun Dan Boatright-Greene, cabinet member with responsibility for education, SEND and skills, said: "Summer is an important transition for many young people, particularly those finishing school or college and considering what comes next. Every young person deserves the opportunity to understand the options available to them and the Careers Worcs’ Summer of Support ensures that help is available throughout the holiday period."

Charlotte McCaughtrie, programme manager for Careers Worcs 16-24 Hubs, added: "Whether a young person has a clear plan or is still weighing up their options, our advisers are here to help. Summer of Support is all about making sure young people know where to turn for trusted advice and practical support."

Wellbeing Support

In addition to careers advice, Careers Worcs offers support for young people’s wider wellbeing through partnerships with organisations including Seetec Pluss, Onside Advocacy, and the BARN Network.

How to Access

Young people can access support in-person at Careers Worcs Careers Hubs in Worcester, Redditch, Bromsgrove and Kidderminster, by phone on 0300 666 3 666, through virtual appointments and online resources throughout the summer.
