Overcoming Adversity
Growing up on the Wensley estate in Page Hall, Sheffield, Zane faced significant challenges, including the loss of his brother, Sami Alsaroori, to a knife attack in 2017. He recalls, "Coming from nothing sometimes gives you the biggest push to get everything you want." His brother's belief in his early work fueled his determination to succeed.

Breaking Down Barriers
Warp Films, known for productions like Adolescence and Reunion, launched this internship in partnership with Screen Yorkshire and supported by Netflix. The scheme is designed to "break down barriers" for people from South Yorkshire, providing them with opportunities in the creative industries without needing to relocate to major cities like London.

Encouraging Others
Zane emphasizes that despite doubts from teachers and societal stereotypes, there is growing support for aspiring creatives. He urges others not to let negativity hold them back, saying, "You won't be able to see that if you let the negativity eat you up, but if you use it as your motivator, you'll see that there is a chance and it's so much closer than you think."
Applications for the internship open in December and are exclusive to South Yorkshire residents, highlighting the local focus of this initiative.
