Baldwin's journey away from Hollywood began with two pivotal events. First, his housekeeper at the time prophesied that he and his wife, Kennya, would rediscover their faith. Then, after the birth of his daughter Hailey (now Hailey Bieber, married to pop star Justin Bieber), he started attending evangelical events. It was at one of these events that he encountered a skateboarding ministry that would change his life.

"Down on the beach, they had built a skate park on the sand with plywood," Baldwin recalled to People. "And these funky, super committed, cool, tattooed, pierced skateboarders were there and they'd skate, stop, pick up a microphone and start preaching evangelistically, and like 5,000 kids would be around watching because of their interest in the skateboarders. I felt a calling."

A New Path

That calling led Baldwin to produce a Christian-themed skateboarding video that sold 10,000 copies in six months. The success caught the attention of a major church, which asked about bringing the skaters to a live event. "So that's when I left Hollywood. I went to 125 churches over four years," he said.

Despite the stark contrast from his previous life, Baldwin has no regrets. "I didn't want to be Tom Cruise and have to make hundreds of millions on a film," he explained. His decision was also influenced by his political and religious views, which often clashed with the Hollywood establishment. He supported Donald Trump in the 2016 and 2024 elections, a stance that further distanced him from his former peers.

Family and Legacy

Baldwin's family has been a source of pride, especially his daughter Hailey's success. "I never talk about her, but my daughter has done the impossible," he said on the Misspelling podcast. "But in this day and age, it's not impossible. Young people are making unbelievable amounts of money on the internet, in ways that are very sketchy. So God bless her."
