Hands-On Learning with Virtual Reality

More than 1,500 schoolchildren aged between 10 and 18 are receiving a hands-on introduction to trades such as carpentry, bricklaying, and welding using virtual reality simulators. This innovative approach is part of Construction & Engineering Week, held from 23 to 25 September, which aims to inspire the next generation of industry professionals through immersive and practical sessions.

Industry Collaboration and Activities

Over 50 companies from the Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, and Humber regions are participating in the event at Lincolnshire Showground, showcasing careers and trades across the construction industry. Activities include clean energy demonstrations and hydrogen pop tests, providing real-world insights.

Leadership Insights on Skills Demand

Tim Balcon, CEO of CITB, emphasized the importance of such events, stating, "In a time when construction skills are in high demand, it is vital that we continue to create these opportunities to connect industry and education. The enthusiasm we’ve seen is a reminder of how important these events are in helping build the future workforce."
