Mobile phone customers frustrated by long wait times or offshore call centres may soon notice a change.
VodafoneThree confirmed last month that it is bringing more than 400 customer contact roles back to the UK, marking the biggest recruitment drive since Vodafone and Three officially merged earlier this year.
The move will see hundreds of customer service jobs relocated from India to the UK, with new roles based in Sheffield and Belfast. For customers, the shift is designed to improve service quality by putting more support staff closer to the people they help.
VodafoneThree says it wants customer care teams based where its customers actually live, making it easier to resolve issues quickly and with a better understanding of UK-specific products, billing systems and consumer rights.
Jon Shaw, a senior figure at VodafoneThree, said the company “firmly believes in having care teams where our customers are”, adding that the UK-based teams will be a key part of how the newly merged business operates.

A Boost for Local Jobs and Regional Economies
The new roles will be hosted by Concentrix, VodafoneThree’s customer service partner, operating out of existing centres in Sheffield and Belfast.
The recruitment drive is being positioned as a significant boost for both cities, creating secure employment opportunities in the digital and tech sector.
Investment minister Lord Stockwood welcomed the announcement, calling it a “major boost” that would create hundreds of jobs, support local communities and put more money into people’s pockets.
He said the move aligns with the Government’s wider strategy to grow regional economies outside London.
How to Apply for Jobs and Careers at Vodafone or VodafoneThree
Anyone interested in working for Vodafone or VodafoneThree can find vacancies through several routes:
- Vodafone careers website – lists permanent roles across customer service, retail, tech and head office functions
- Concentrix careers site – where many of the Sheffield and Belfast customer contact roles are expected to be advertised
- Job boards such as Indeed and LinkedIn, which regularly host Vodafone-linked vacancies
- Graduate and apprenticeship schemes, often promoted directly on Vodafone’s careers pages
Roles typically offer structured training, flexible working options and clear progression routes, making them attractive for both career starters and experienced customer service professionals.
For customers and jobseekers alike, VodafoneThree’s move back to the UK could be a win on both sides of the phone line.
