Worcestershire's Largest Careers Event Returns with Expanded Opportunities
Worcestershire County Council's annual Skills Expo is set to return this March, with extra exhibitor places now available for local employers eager to inspire the county's future workforce. This event, one of Worcestershire's largest careers gatherings, brings together thousands of local students from schools across the county.
Over two days, young people will have the opportunity to meet employers, participate in hands-on activities, and explore the wide range of post-education opportunities available locally. The event, formerly known as The Worcestershire Skills Show, welcomes businesses from across all sectors and is recognized as the region's largest careers event for young people.
Organizers are focused on building on past success by featuring more organizations from key industries such as health and social care, travel and tourism, hospitality, sports, and the creative industries.
Coun Alan Amos, cabinet member with responsibility for skills and business at Worcestershire County Council, emphasized the importance of employer participation: "2026 is the year businesses need to step up, take part, and embrace every chance to engage with the next generation of workers. Skills Expo is about more than information, it's about motivation."
He added, "This event gives employers a direct role in shaping the workforce our county will need in the years ahead, while firing up students to explore the industries that make up Worcestershire and start thinking seriously about the career paths and opportunities open to them."
Event Details and Schedule
Skills Expo will take place over two days, Wednesday March 4 and March 5, at Sixways Stadium. Invited Worcestershire high schools will visit during the day, with a dedicated parents and carers session scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Judy Gibbs, head of skills employability at Worcestershire County Council, shared her enthusiasm: "Skills Expo is one of the highlights of our year. It gives students the chance to explore different industries, speak directly to employers, and make more informed decisions about their next steps."
She continued, "We already have a strong line-up, but this year I want us to 'go big'. I'm encouraging organizations from the creative industries, sports, health and social care, tourism, and hospitality to get involved and help shape Worcestershire's future workforce."
