About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Ganger to join our Scotland team.
As a Ganger, you will provide day-to-day leadership and control of site operations teams, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in driving a positive safety culture, supporting operational excellence and ensuring teams are motivated, engaged and aligned with project objectives.
Working closely with Supervisors, Team Leads and wider project teams, you will be responsible for coordinating site activities, monitoring performance and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate site operations teams to deliver work safely, efficiently and to programme requirements.
- Promote and demonstrate Balfour Beatty's values and behaviours at all times.
- Maintain a relentless focus on health, safety and wellbeing, supporting our Zero Harm ambition.
- Support sustainability initiatives and ensure environmental requirements are effectively communicated and understood by the workforce.
- Motivate team members, monitor performance and provide coaching and support where required.
- Ensure safe systems of work are understood and followed by all team members.
- Identify training requirements and support the ongoing development of the workforce.
- Take ownership of tasks and ensure quality expectations are consistently achieved.
- Support site audits, inspections and reviews, ensuring appropriate actions are implemented.
- Promote a culture of Right First Time and continuous improvement.
- Deliver Quality Tool Box Talks and reinforce quality standards across the team.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
Essential
- Experience leading teams within a construction, infrastructure or civil engineering environment.
- Ability to clearly communicate safe systems of work and ensure compliance on site.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work on your own initiative and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Current driving licence.
- SSSTS qualification.
- CSCS Gold Card or NVQ Level 3.
- Previous experience leading operational teams on infrastructure projects.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to act as a role model and positively influence team performance.
