Customer Insights Marketing Manager – Birmingham (hybrid)
Are you a Customer Insights Marketing Manager looking to join an organisation that puts purpose at the heart of everything it does?
Our client is looking for an experienced insights professional to join their marketing team and play a pivotal role in shaping how the business understands its customers and makes decisions. This is a full-time, permanent role with a salary of up to £45k. Their working model is hybrid (2 days in office, or more if you’d like!) and there is a great suite of benefits.
About the role:
In this role, you’ll be the voice and advocate of the customer – gathering insights, spotting trends, and transforming data into clear, actionable recommendations. From brand tracking to customer satisfaction surveys, you’ll be helping the business continually improve its products and services to deliver better customer outcomes. If you are passionate about customer experience, this job truly empowers you to bit its champion.
The Company
Our client is an ethical, social-impact organisation in the financial services sector with their HQ in Birmingham. They provide a range of products and services to diverse customer groups, with a strong focus on doing good and delivering meaningful change. Their culture is collaborative, supportive, and driven by purpose – people feel proud to work here, knowing they are contributing to something bigger than themselves.
If you are motivated by working for an ethical organisation that prioritises positive social impact, you’ll find this role hugely rewarding.
The Role
As the Customer Insights Marketing Manager, you’ll report to the Head of Marketing and work closely with colleagues across marketing, product, and commercial teams. This role is all about championing customer understanding – consolidating a range of insights including market trends, consumer behaviour and competitor analysis. The Customer Insights Marketing Manager will use mixed methods of research across both quantitative and qualitative, as well as some statistical techniques (such as regression, cluster analysis and data modelling) to gather key insights to support decision making and customer understanding. You are supported by a Research Agency to undertake any heavy data crunching, but you will be experienced in interpreting data and getting the heart of its meaning.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Leading research to understand customer behaviours, needs, and market trends.
- Managing ongoing programmes like customer satisfaction surveys and brand tracking.
- Designing and delivering bespoke research projects, sometimes working with external agencies.
- Developing and maintaining customer personas and pen portraits, including vulnerable customer groups.
- Acting as the “insights champion” across the business – making sure insights inform strategy, marketing campaigns, and product development.
- Supporting the Customer Council to ensure customer needs are reflected in decision-making.
- Making sure insights are accessible and embedded into everyday business thinking.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about representing the customer and influencing decisions at every level of the business. You’ll be equally comfortable crunching data, storytelling through insights, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in customer research and insights. This might form part of your job now, with enough experience to take on a dedicated insights role. Or, you maybe in an insights role now, but would like a broader role.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Strong communication skills – confident influencing stakeholders across all levels.
- Experience with statistical tools and techniques, plus the ability to interrogate data.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
- A collaborative, positive approach with the confidence to champion insights.
It would be a bonus if you also have:
- Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
- Experience managing external research agencies
