Group Financial Controller


A private equity-backed platform pursuing an ambitious, high-growth buy-and-build strategy is scaling rapidly through frequent acquisitions alongside organic growth. Backed by a leading mid-market PE fund, the business has been building out its leadership team over recent months and is seeking a commercially astute Group Financial Controller to help establish a best-in-class finance function.


This is a genuinely pivotal, hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment, working closely with the CFO, PE sponsors and senior leadership team, you'll build a robust control and reporting environment from scratch while playing an active role in the execution and integration of frequent M&A activity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a robust financial control framework across a growing group structure, including statutory reporting, accounting policy standardisation, audit and tax/VAT compliance
  • Own the Group's banking and treasury requirements, including covenant tracking, refinancing support and liquidity/cash forecasting
  • Act as a key interface with PE investors, supporting board reporting, investor communications and relationships with lenders and advisors
  • Support financial due diligence and deal execution, then lead post-acquisition integration of finance processes, reporting and synergy tracking
  • Oversee monthly and annual reporting cycles, consolidated group reporting and variance analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems and automation to build scalable infrastructure for growth
  • Build and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement


Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Proven private equity experience highly desirable
  • Strong M&A experience, ideally in a fast-paced buy-and-build environment, with a track record of leading integration and driving synergies
  • Demonstrated experience delivering finance transformation
  • Comfortable taking a lead role in a brand new team, leveraging experience to date in establishing a high-quality function
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP and excellent stakeholder management skills
