Contract Project Manager – Operational Restructuring (Manufacturing)
Outside IR35
£900-£1000 p/day
Overview
A manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver a significant operational restructuring programme. The role requires a proven operator who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, ensuring that structural, operational and process changes are implemented effectively within a tight timeline.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to translate restructuring objectives into a clear, executable plan and drive delivery across multiple operational workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end to end delivery of a manufacturing restructuring programme, from strategic planning through to operational execution
- Translate high level business objectives into a structured programme plan with clear milestones, timelines and ownership
- Coordinate cross functional workstreams across operations, production, supply chain and support functions
- Identify and implement physical operational changes across manufacturing processes, layout, staffing structures and workflows
- Drive efficiency improvements, productivity gains and cost optimisation across the site or business unit
- Ensure restructuring activities are delivered at pace while maintaining operational continuity and quality standards
- Work closely with senior leadership to report progress, manage risks and resolve delivery barriers
- Establish governance, tracking and reporting mechanisms to ensure programme visibility and accountability
- Engage with operational leaders and teams to ensure alignment, adoption and delivery of new structures and processes
- Ensure all changes are implemented with clear measurable outcomes and future scalability

Candidate Profile
- Proven experience delivering complex restructuring or transformation programmes within manufacturing environments. (Manufacturing experience non-negotiable)
- Strong operational background with credibility across production, engineering and supply chain teams
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and execution level
- Experience delivering physical operational change such as manufacturing layout, process redesign or organisational restructuring
- Track record of delivering results within tight timelines and high pressure environments
- Highly structured programme management capability with clear focus on delivery and outcomes
