Head of Gabion Division | UK

An established UK civil engineering contractor is looking for a Head of Gabion Division to help develop and grow an existing specialist business.

The division currently has a strong reputation, established clients and around £1m turnover. The aim is to grow this to approximately £8m over the next five years.

This is an opportunity to take on responsibility for both the day-to-day operation and the future development of the division.

The role

You'll initially spend time understanding the existing business, clients, projects and opportunities.

You'll be involved in:

  • Managing and developing client relationships
  • Reviewing new opportunities and supporting business development
  • Leading technical solutions and designs
  • Supporting tenders and commercial decisions
  • Overseeing project delivery
  • Developing the team and future capability of the division

As the division grows, you'll have increasing involvement in decisions around where to focus, which opportunities to pursue and what the business needs to support that growth.

Who could suit the role?

There are a few backgrounds that could work well.

You might already have experience in gabions, retaining walls, ground engineering or a related specialist area, and be looking to take on greater responsibility.

Alternatively, you could be a Civil Engineer or Project Manager with a strong technical and commercial background who is interested in moving into a broader management role.

You'll need to be comfortable working with clients, understanding technical requirements, managing projects and contributing to commercial decisions.

Most importantly, you'll need to be someone who can work independently, build good relationships and take responsibility for getting things done.

The opportunity

The division is already established, so this isn't about starting something from scratch.

The focus is on developing what is already there and building a larger, sustainable business over the coming years.

For the right person, the role offers the opportunity to have a direct influence on that development and, over time, take on responsibility for the division as a whole.

If you're looking for a role that combines engineering, project delivery, client relationships and business development, it could be worth a conversation.

The business is established.

The growth plan is clear.

They're now looking for someone to help deliver it.
