Project Engineer – Cutting & Decommissioning SolutionsLocation: Aberdeen, UK

Reports to: Head of Global Projects

About the Role

As a Project Engineer at Control Cutter, you will play a central role in delivering decommissioning and subsea cutting projects from concept to completion. This includes supporting design, procurement, installation, and documentation phases to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget.

You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies that drive the global energy transition, enabling cleaner, safer, and more sustainable offshore operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery

  • Manage assigned projects through all stages — planning, design, procurement, installation, and close-out — ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop project plans, work breakdown structures, and schedules tailored to decommissioning and subsea cutting projects.

Engineering Coordination

  • Oversee engineering deliverables, ensuring mechanical, structural, electrical, or subsea-cutting system drawings and documentation are accurate, approved, and issued on time.
  • Manage technical procurement, including preparation of purchase orders and vendor coordination.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide on-site and offshore technical support during installation and operational phases.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, ensuring full compliance with design, quality, and HSE standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between internal teams, clients, and vendors to maintain clear communication, technical alignment, and effective project progress tracking.
  • Conduct pre- and post-project briefings, change management, and lessons-learned sessions.

Project Control & Documentation

  • Monitor engineering, procurement, and operational progress against key milestones.
  • Prepare project documentation, including change requests, non-conformance reports, and final handover packs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering and project delivery functions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Offshore, Subsea, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in project engineering within an offshore, subsea, or decommissioning environment.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication, and installation processes.
  • Experience managing engineering deliverables, project reporting, and progress tracking.
  • Working knowledge of procurement, vendor management, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of HSE, quality systems, and offshore working practices.
  • Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel to offshore sites, fabrication yards, and client facilities.

Desirable Attributes

  • Previous experience in subsea cutting, conductor recovery, or decommissioning technologies.
  • Offshore certification or previous offshore project exposure.
  • Passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
