About The Team We Are Recruiting To We are excited and very pleased to be expanding the Coventry Statutory Assessment and Review Team (StART) to enable us to further develop and enhance the service provided to the families, schools and young people living in this vibrant, diverse city. Our Team is committed to working with families and partners to support and empower children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We have responsibility for a range of important statutory educational work within Coventry. We are here to deliver the aspirational challenge set to us by young people with SEND and their families: ‘To Lift the Cloud of Limitation and enable them to enjoy an ordinary life’. Our passion and commitment was recognised by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) during our last Local Area SEND inspection, they commended our “genuine passion and commitment to get things right for children and young people with SEND and their families”; our respect for the “lived experiences of children and young people with SEND and their parents” and the “strong partnership between school settings and education service providers’. We value and welcome diverse perspectives and experiences as we strive to create an inclusive workplace culture which is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias. What is the job role? To work within the Statutory Assessment and Review Team as an Education, Health and Care Plan Coordinator, contributing to the performance and effective delivery of the Local Authority’s Special Educational Needs Team. This includes:

  • Being responsible for a caseload of pupils, supporting schools and other educational settings through the Education, Health and Care Assessment Process.
  • Attending annual reviews and transition reviews in schools and other educational settings, ensuring a ‘person-centred’ approach and parents/carers are fully involved throughout the process.
  • Producing high-quality EHCPs for children and young people across the 0-25 age range, ensuring compliance with the Children's and Families Act 2014 and the Equality Act 2010.
  • Responsible for coordinating and monitoring bespoke educational programmes for young people who benefit from an alternative educational programme.
  • Monitoring cases funded through personal budgets, reviewing outcomes and value for money

You will be well supported, and there will be progression opportunities. Every role within the team is critical as it enables us to offer an excellent and cohesive service to the families and children of Coventry. All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Who are we looking for? We are looking to recruit highly motivated, person-centred professionals who will be able to demonstrate valuable experience of working in an inclusive role where they have demonstrated their commitment to children and young people with additional need and have a good understanding of the 2014 SEND Reforms and the educational landscape. You will need to be resilient and able to manage a caseload of children and young people linked to schools in Coventry and the surrounding areas. This is a key role within Coventry’s Statutory Assessment and Review Service. You will need to be highly literate, an excellent communicator, able to prioritise work streams in a busy environment, able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including families, children, young people, schools, colleges, health and social care.
