About the role

We’re looking for an experienced qualified Accountant to join the CRC team in our Banchory office, in a senior role, working closely with our clients and supporting the development of our growing team.

This is a hands-on role for someone with 10+ years’ practice experience who is confident working with a broad range of clients, reviewing accounts and financial work, leading client meetings and providing practical advice.

You’ll play an important role in maintaining the quality of our work while helping to develop the people around you. You’ll work closely with the wider CRC team in Banchory and Kirkwall and have the opportunity to build strong, long-term relationships with our clients.

Tax experience would be desirable, although the key requirement is strong practice-based accounting technical knowledge and the ability to communicate confidently with clients.

Client work & reviews

  • Review accounts and other financial work prepared by the team, ensuring accuracy, quality and compliance.
  • Carry out client reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Oversee a portfolio of clients, acting as a senior point of contact and building strong working relationships.
  • Lead and attend client meetings, helping clients understand their financial position and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide practical, commercial advice rather than simply reporting the numbers.
  • Support clients with accounting, compliance and wider business matters.
  • Identify opportunities where clients could benefit from additional CRC services and specialist support.

Team leadership & development

  • Support the training, development and progression of junior and intermediate team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to colleagues.
  • Help identify training needs and contribute to individual development plans.
  • Share knowledge and best practice across the team.
  • Provide mentoring and constructive feedback to help team members build their confidence and capabilities.
  • Play an active role in maintaining high standards across the team.

Technical & compliance

  • Ensure work is completed to a high professional and technical standard.
  • Keep up to date with changes in accounting, tax and compliance requirements.
  • Support the team with more complex accounting and technical matters.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A practical, commercial mindset and an interest in helping businesses move forward.
  • Accountancy qualification (ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW or equivalent).
  • 10+ years’ experience working in an accountancy practice.
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing accounts.
  • Experience working directly with clients and leading client meetings.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or developing other team members.
  • A good understanding of tax, with tax experience desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to explain financial and technical information clearly to clients.
