This role is perfect if you are a recent graduate looking to kickstart your career in software engineering at a retail technology company working within Agile methods. Working closely with a skilled and supportive team, you will gain hands-on experience developing software. 

Our global Software Engineering team work on Product or Project based development, for either a domain area of our product or on client specific solutions. Responsible for the development and delivery of existing and new retail solutions to address mobility, high volume systems and big data challenges. You will work with some of the largest retailers in the world.   

Working within Agile methods/frameworks such as Scrum & Kanban, you will take an active role in daily stand up, planning, retrospective meetings as well as using pair programming and techniques like TDD and CI, moving towards CD.

The Responsibilities  

  • Use Java and Angular technologies and related tools for application development. 
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional Agile team to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle. 
  • Support development of new solutions, third-party integrations, and legacy system enhancements, following industry best practices. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues using problem-solving skills. 
  • Research and assess technical solutions to business challenges. 
  • Use KPIs and metrics to validate software quality. 
  • Support estimation and conduct code reviews

Requirements

What we're looking for: 

  • Strong programming fundamentals 
  • Enthusiasm for high quality code and software testing practices 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities 
  • Ambition to become a great Software Engineer 
  • Exposure to retail or hospitality environments is beneficial but not essential. 

We'd like it if you could bring skills in which reflect our technology stack or projects which can showcase your skills and personal attributes.  Our technology stack includes:  

  • Java (JUnit, Mockito, Selenium)  
  • JavaScript 
  • Spring core/web/remoting/boot  
  • Angular 
  • SQL / MongoDB  
  • GCP 

Having great skills and experience is important to us but we also want the right person to be part of the Flooid Engineering team.  You should be a hands-on person with a positive "can-do" attitude who wants to work collaboratively to deliver an excellent service to our customers.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of mixed disciplines, keen to build business awareness.
