Our well-established and respected housing association is seeking a Development Manager to join their team in the beautiful South West of England. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in expanding our portfolio of much-needed affordable homes
About the Role:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a diverse range of new build housing projects, from initial feasibility and land acquisition through to practical completion and handover. This will involve:
Identifying and appraising potential development opportunities.
Leading on land acquisitions, including negotiations and legal processes.
Managing complex project programmes, budgets, and risks.
Appointing and overseeing external consultants and contractors.
Securing planning permissions and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, partners, and residents.
Ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, design, and sustainability.
About You:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in residential development, ideally within the affordable housing sector. You will possess:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar development management role.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple schemes concurrently.
Excellent understanding of the development lifecycle, including planning, construction, and finance.
Demonstrable experience of successful land acquisition and negotiation.
In-depth knowledge of housing policy and funding streams (desirable).
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive and results-oriented approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
A relevant professional qualification in surveying, construction, or property (desirable).
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
