Howard Civil Engineering are a civil engineering and groundworkers contractor working with some of the largest names in the industry. We work either as a sub-contractor to Tier 1 builders or as principal contractor, it is integral to the role you maintain our high health and safety standards whilst achieving the most from your managed sites. Howard Civil Engineering are currently looking for a dynamic, proactive and competent Earthworks Supervisor to work on a new project within West Yorkshire with a background in earthworks. Howards expect at least 5 years in a similar role working within the Earthworks sector with a strong background in earthworks & remediation. A progressive career is beneficial with a proven track record of improvement & progression. As an Earthworks Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising all aspects of earthworks on site, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and management to deliver projects on time and within budget. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily earthworks operations on site
  • Supervise plant, operatives, and subcontractors
  • Monitor site progress and report to the Site Manager/Project Manager
  • Ensure health & safety regulations are strictly followed
  • Conduct toolbox talks and site inductions
  • Manage materials and plant logistics
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Liaise with engineers and surveyors for setting out and quality control

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in earthworks and remediation, demolition experience is beneficial
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (essential)
  • CPCS/NPORS tickets for plant (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience with contamination, earthworks and remediation.
  • Awareness of hazardous materials such as Asbestos.
