System/Test Engineer

Introduction into the position We have an exciting opportunity for a System/Test Engineer to join our Vidalert team. Working alongside experienced engineers and researchers, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative hardware and embedded technology solutions. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work across electronics design, embedded firmware, communication protocols and edge-computing technologies, contributing to the development of next-generation intelligent traffic and environmental monitoring solutions in a collaborative, agile environment. What you will be doing:

• Designing, developing and testing analogue and digital electronic systems for new and existing products.
• Configuration and testing of edge-computing platforms.
• Researching and evaluating electronic components, RF systems, communication technologies and embedded platforms.
• Collaborating with hardware engineers (electronics and firmware), software developers and project teams to deliver innovative technology solutions.
• Supporting the development, testing and continuous improvement of products through the full R&D lifecycle.

What we are looking for:

• Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in system engineering, electrical engineering or electronic engineering.
• Experience or a strong understanding of embedded systems, edge computing, or system engineering.
• Knowledge of analogue and digital electronic and component selection.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, UART and I2C, together with networking fundamentals.
• Experience working with Windows and Linux environments.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for developing innovative technology.
• We are particularly interested in hearing from people with system and test engineering backgrounds.
