Assistant Director of Financial Management

Are you Senior Financial Accountant or an Assistant Director of Finance looking for an exciting role within the public sector? MCS Group are working with Northern Ireland Ambulance Service to recruit an Assistant Director of Finance (Financial Management), who will lead on the production of a Financial Strategy and financial plans within an important public service organisation.

The Assistant Director of Finance will influence strategic decision making within the Trust, providing important financial advice and support to Directors, Senior Managers and Budget Managers. You will help develop the Capital Investment Strategy and you will be responsible for financial performance efficiency programmes, value for money and benchmarking.

You will develop financial frameworks for business cases and their evaluation and will lead of the development of a Costing and Financial Appraisal System. As a senior member of the Finance Team, which is responsible for determining the strategic direction of the Finance Department and you will deputise for the Finance Director as and when required. As a Senior Leader, you will ensure that finance employees are developed in line with the organisation's and directorate's needs.

The person

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of financial services within a complex organisation and will demonstrate the following:

• Full membership of one of the five professional accounting institutes within the CCAB OR CIMA and have a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience within the last 6 years in a senior management finance role in a major complex organisation.
• Have demonstrable evidence of professional development
• You will have delivered against challenging performance and financial management programmes for a minimum of 3 years, meeting a full range of key targets and making significant improvements
• Hold a current and full driving licence and have access to transport. Where a disability prohibits driving, you must have access to transport to meet the needs of the post in full

The role

Duration: 6 months

Location: Knockbracken, Belfast

Hours: Monday- Friday, 37.5 hours
