POSITION OVERVIEW
In this exciting Product Manager – SDA role at Midea UK, you’ll take full ownership of the small domestic appliances’ portfolio, leading key categories sourced from Midea Group’s global manufacturing network. This includes microwaves alongside the floorcare range, with scope to expand into additional categories as the business grows. You will define and deliver innovative product strategies that position Midea for sustained success in the UK market. Working cross-functionally, you’ll drive alignment across the business to support brand growth, while collaborating closely with global factories to shape a competitive and commercially optimized product roadmap. With guidance from the Head of Product Management, you’ll be responsible for setting clear short-, mid-, and long-term plans that unlock growth and elevate performance across your categories.
Key relationships: External customers/retailers, Sales, Logistics, Finance, Service & Aftersales, External Agencies, Factories/Product divisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take ownership of the microwave and floorcare product roadmaps across multiple categories to define Midea UKs future success over the next 1, 3 and 5 years.
- Develop and implement the sub-category line ups to meet the needs of the local market to achieve growth targets.
- Manage the product lifecycle from ideation to launch including pricing (GM% and mix), positioning, promotion as well as feedback on product development.
- Work closely with MUK’s logistics and finance departments to ensure up to date and accurate costs are captured in the product teams commercial calculations.
- Negotiate on product costs with Midea Groups factories to ensure MUK financial targets are met and in-line with our product strategy.
- Use internal and external data to inform and drive strategic product decision making.
- Work with the regional product managers to ensure product KPIs are proactively managed, such as SKU productivity and strategic category sales.
- Collaborate with MUK sales team to implement the product strategy in conjunction with MUKs channelisation strategy, providing support when necessary, sharing knowledge and assisting with the presentation of product and market information.
- Support MUKs marketing function, along with Midea Groups product division marketing departments to ensure marketing content is created in line with UK requirements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape for your designated product groups.
- Leverage and build a strong knowledge base of competitors and their activities.
- Identify new opportunities within the customer base and formulate clear strategies to help grow Midea share within each account.
- Using their knowledge of the market, work with the sales-team to create and develop new business streams.
- Be the expert and champion for their categories building credibility with internal and external partners.
- Broaden business opportunities by investigating and developing, as appropriate, all options for products to bring to market.
- Consider and implement initiatives in conjunction with business planning to ensure budgeted gross sales and net profit is delivered for each category.
- Provide effective and timely reports of product performance and analysis, to help the steer product strategy and performance.
- Keep abreast of developments in the industry (technology and otherwise) and identify potential new business opportunities.
- Managing the process of constant product improvement, enhancing the user experience.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in consumer electronics product management (preferably SDA/Floorcare) within the UK market.
- Experience of working with OEM/OBM manufacturers.
- Strong commercial knowledge, comfortable analysing and working with complex data (sales data, margins, pricing etc).
- Proven track record of product and promotional category management.
- Ability to understand key drivers of category P&L.
- Experience of working with international Factories and a larger matrix organisation, as well as external partners & agencies.
- Track record in achieving budgets/business plans and demonstrating good business and strong financial acumen.
- Relationship builder, able to win the trust and respect of all internal and external customers. Ability to develop existing and new relationships.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A excellent standard of PC literacy (Microsoft Office including proficient use of excel)
- A critical thinker and problem solver.
