The Opportunity

Orwins is a high-growth, PE-backed buy-and-build business, backed by Aliter Capital, and is entering an exciting period of continued growth and expansion.

The business has completed a number of acquisitions in recent months as part of its broader buy-and-build strategy, significantly increasing its scale and creating an increasingly complex and dynamic operating environment. With further growth expected, Orwins is focused on building the infrastructure, systems and capabilities required to support the next phase of its development.

This is an exciting time to join the business, with the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the finance function as Orwins continues to grow both organically and through acquisition.

The Head of FP&A will be central to this journey, providing the financial insight, modelling and commercial challenge required to support decision-making, track performance across the expanding group and help drive value creation.

The role will have significant exposure to the senior leadership team and Aliter Capital, with the opportunity to influence strategy, support future acquisitions and help professionalise the FP&A function as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the FP&A function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning and performance reporting.
  • Provide high-quality financial analysis and commercial insight to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions and operational performance.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support scenario planning, business cases, investment decisions and acquisitions.
  • Partner closely with business unit and functional leaders, providing commercial finance support, insight and constructive challenge.
  • Develop meaningful KPIs and performance reporting to ensure management has clear visibility of business performance and key value drivers.
  • Prepare Board-level reporting and investor materials, ensuring information is clear, accurate and commercially relevant.
  • Support the evaluation and execution of M&A activity, including financial analysis, due diligence, modelling and business case development.
  • Support the integration of acquired businesses, including performance tracking, synergy analysis, KPI alignment and reporting.
  • Work closely with the wider finance function to ensure strong alignment between FP&A, financial control and operational finance.
  • Drive the continued professionalisation and development of the FP&A function, improving processes, reporting and analytical capability.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance systems, tools and processes, including increased automation and use of data and technology.
  • Act as a key finance liaison with Aliter Capital and other private equity stakeholders, ensuring timely, transparent and insightful communication.
  • Support the senior finance team on ad hoc strategic projects and value-creation initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 7+ years' experience across FP&A, commercial finance or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record in a senior FP&A or commercial finance leadership role.
  • Experience working within a PE-backed, high-growth or acquisitive environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear commercial insight.
  • Demonstrable experience of business partnering with senior executives and influencing strategic decision-making.
  • Experience supporting M&A activity, including financial due diligence, modelling, integration planning and post-acquisition performance tracking.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve business performance.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and change-oriented environment, with a proactive and hands-on approach.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a business with recurring or contracted revenue streams.
  • Experience implementing or optimising FP&A and planning tools such as Adaptive Insights, Anaplan or Power BI.
  • Exposure to private equity reporting, investor relations or Board-level reporting.
  • Experience working within an acquisitive organisation and supporting multiple business units.
  • Experience within the legal services or wider professional services sector preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Thinking & Commercial Acumen; Ability to understand the broader commercial objectives of the business and translate financial data into strategic insight that supports performance and value creation.
  • Advanced Financial Modelling; Strong technical capability in building and maintaining financial models for forecasting, scenario planning, investment appraisal and M&A.
  • Analytical Rigor; Highly analytical with the ability to interrogate data, identify trends and drivers, and turn analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Management; Confident and credible when working with senior executives, Board members, business leaders and private equity stakeholders. Able to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Communication & Presentation; Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex financial information into concise and compelling messages for both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Systems & Technology; Strong Excel and financial systems capability, with experience using planning, reporting and BI tools such as Power BI, Adaptive Insights or Anaplan. A strong appreciation of automation and process improvement.
  • Change Orientation; Comfortable operating in a dynamic and evolving environment, with the resilience, pace and hands-on approach required to drive change and deliver results.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will establish a high-performing FP&A function that provides the business with greater visibility, stronger commercial insight and better decision support.

They will play a key role in supporting Orwins' growth strategy, including M&A and integration activity, while helping to strengthen the quality and consistency of reporting to the executive team, Board and Aliter Capital.

As the business continues to expand through its buy-and-build strategy, the Head of FP&A will help ensure that financial planning, forecasting and performance management evolve alongside the organisation, providing the infrastructure and insight needed to support continued growth.

Ultimately, the Head of FP&A will become a trusted commercial partner to the leadership team and Aliter Capital, helping to identify opportunities, challenge performance and support the creation of long-term shareholder value.
