Job Description

Posted on: August 4, 2025

At The National Lottery Community Fund we are committed to making a bigger difference in the years ahead. That’s why being ‘impact-focussed’ is one of our core values. We want to transform how we use evidence in our organisation so that we can identify the communities that most need our funding, demonstrate the difference we make, and take an equity-based approach. Our 2030 strategy ‘It starts with community’ sets stretching goals and puts impact at the heart of what we do. In April 2025, we launched a new Impact Strategy that explains how we will do this.

We’re recruiting for an Insight Manager to join our newly formed Strategic Analysis Team. In this role, you will work with teams across the organisation to generate high quality evidence and insights to inform decision making. You’ll design, commission and deliver insight and research projects to meet the needs of our staff and colleagues and those of communities and stakeholders.

Confident in using the most appropriate research methods to understand the external environment in which we operate, you’ll support colleagues in the wider organisation to interpret and make sense of evidence and what it means for them, so that it helps to inform their decision making.

In addition to strong research expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills are essential. You will coordinate different sources of research around the organisation, synthesising findings, ensuring it is relevant, accessible and actionable. You support the Head of Strategic Analysis in using and applying insight to the development of strategy and policy at the Community Fund.

We are looking for someone with a passion for championing the voice of the communities we serve; making sure timely and high-quality research is placed at the heart of our practice and reflects community needs, views and expectations.

Interview Date: Interviews will be held w/c 26 August and will take place online via Microsoft Teams.

Location: We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. The role can be based at any of our UK offices, these are Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Newtown.

Briefing sessions: We will hold one briefing session to further outline the role and answer questions on the following dates via MS Team:

  • 6th August, 12pm

If you have any questions on the process or are interested in joining a briefing call on this opportunity, please email with your chosen session to recruitment@tnlcommunityfund.org.uk, and an invite will be sent nearer the time.

On application, please align your supporting statement to the criteria belowEssential:

  • A professional qualification, bachelor's degree or equivalent level of experience in a relevant discipline such as social and market research methods, including approaches across the spectrum of qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with different audiences. Including ability to communicate insight in an applied way so it is accessible and actionable.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, often with competing priorities, to gain agreement and preferably in relation to insight and research commissioning.
  • Experience of identifying research and insight needs of stakeholders and translating a range of business needs into clear research objectives and research briefs.
  • Experience of procuring, commissioning and managing research projects, including overseeing the work of third-party suppliers.
  • Excellent project management skills, gained either through a recognised qualification or relevant experience.
  • Understanding of research ethics, safeguarding and legal compliance.
  • Experience of supporting colleagues to interpret and make sense of evidence, to help inform their decision making.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Communities in the UK come in all shapes and sizes. National Lottery funding is for everyone – therefore, we are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and we work hard to ensure our funding reaches where it is needed.

We also believe our people should represent the communities, organisations and individuals we work with. That’s why The National Lottery Community Fund is committed to being an inclusive employer and a great place to work. We recognise and celebrate the fact that our people come from diverse backgrounds. We positively welcome applications from people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities or longstanding health conditions, people who are LGBTQ+, and people from different socio-economic and educational backgrounds, as well as people of all ages.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we take a proactive approach in making reasonable adjustments, if needed, throughout the recruitment process and during employment. (This can be related to a physical and mental health condition.)
