Working with water companies across the UK, Water Regs UK contributes to safeguarding drinking water quality, reducing leakage, improving water efficiency, and supporting new developments and customer service.


The organisation serves as a central hub for industry collaboration, training, and communication about the regulations. It also operates the Water Industry Approved Plumber Scheme (WIAPS) and administers the WaterSafe Register, helping the public find qualified and insured local plumbers.


Role Description


The Technical Delivery Lead is a full-time, hybrid role within a company based in Crumlin, Caerphilly. It is expected that the successful candidate will work from home 3-4 days per week after initial training and induction. Remote candidates will be considered with expectation of infrequent compensated travel.


This role oversees the planning, coordination, and delivery of technical projects, training resources and other services that support water fittings regulations/byelaws, industry collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.


Day-to-day responsibilities include managing project timelines and resources, ensuring technical outputs meet regulatory and quality standards, and coordinating with internal colleagues and external partners, including water companies, plumbers, and other stakeholders.


The Technical Delivery Lead will monitor risks and issues, implement process improvements, and support the development and delivery of training, guidance materials, and digital tools. The role also involves reporting on project performance, contributing to strategic planning, and helping maintain a culture of continuous improvement and excellent customer service.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Relevant technical, engineering, science, or water industry qualification, or equivalent professionaln experience;
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, water industry operations, technical standards, and regulatory frameworks, ideally including Water Fittings Regulations or similar.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with water companies, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess risks, interpret technical information, and support evidence-based decisions.

Strong project and service delivery skills, including experience in planning, coordinating, and monitoring technical or regulatory projects.

  • Experience with process improvement, documentation, and the use of digital tools or systems to support technical delivery and reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives, work independently, and manage multiple priorities in a hybrid working environment.
