Electronics Design Engineer

About the Company

Our client is a growing technology business developing advanced electronic products for the global healthcare and aesthetic technology markets. Their solutions combine sophisticated power electronics, embedded systems and precision control technologies to deliver innovative, high-performance devices used by professionals around the world.

With ongoing investment in new product development and engineering capability, they are looking to strengthen their R&D team with an experienced Electronics Design Engineer who can contribute to both next-generation product development and the enhancement of existing platforms.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team developing advanced electronic products used in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, testing and continuous improvement of electronic systems, working closely with software, manufacturing and quality teams to bring innovative products through the development lifecycle.

Reporting to the Electronics & Software Manager, you will be involved in both new product introduction and the enhancement of existing platforms. This position would suit an engineer with experience in high-power electronics, RF-based systems and hands-on laboratory prototyping.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve supporting a range of product development and improvement activities, including:

  • Designing and validating next-generation electronic systems with a focus on cost-effective manufacture and production scalability.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce component and manufacturing costs across existing product lines.
  • Enhancing product manufacturability to streamline assembly, calibration and production processes.
  • Driving improvements in product maintainability and serviceability to reduce support and repair complexity.
  • Contributing to the development of robust, reliable products through design improvements and validation activities.
  • Ensuring designs meet applicable regulatory and safety requirements, including medical and industrial standards where relevant.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:

  • Switched-mode and modern power supply design.
  • High-power RF generation and associated circuitry.
  • Power Factor Correction (PFC) implementation.
  • Design and integration of embedded microcontroller systems.
  • Wired communication interfaces and protocols.
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design and compliance testing.
  • Development of fault-tolerant and safety-conscious electronic systems.
  • Verification and validation of electronic hardware and embedded firmware.
  • Creation of test equipment, fixtures and development jigs.
  • Collaboration with third-party manufacturing partners, both UK-based and international.
  • PCB assembly, component-level troubleshooting and rework.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer (experience with Proteus would be advantageous).
  • Preparation of technical documentation to support IEC 60601 or equivalent compliance standards.
  • Generation of technical reports, test documentation and laboratory records.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working across the full product lifecycle. Experience developing high-power electronic systems within a regulated industry would be highly beneficial, alongside a strong understanding of product validation, manufacturing considerations and compliance requirements.
