More than 100 Year 7 students from The Birkenhead Park School have taken part in an immersive work experience programme in partnership with Magenta Living, Wirral’s largest social landlord.
Exploring the Housing Sector
Pupils visited Magenta Living’s headquarters to explore departments including fire safety, marketing, finance, HR, and IT. They engaged in hands-on activities such as designing social media posts, identifying fire hazards, and prioritising IT helpdesk issues. They also tackled HR scenarios, gaining a realistic introduction to professional challenges.
Building Essential Skills
The experience helped develop problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and creative thinking abilities. Miss Clarke, Assistant Headteacher, said: "Experiences like this help bring learning to life and encourage our students to think positively about the exciting opportunities available to them in the future."
Community Impact
Sally Ross, Jobs Plus Manager at Magenta Living, added: "It was a pleasure to welcome such an inspiring group of young people... We hope the experience has built confidence, sparked ambition and helped young people see the impact they can have in their communities."
Commitment to Early Careers
The school’s Student Engagement Coordinator, Miss Brown, emphasised: "Our goal is to provide them with the experiences, opportunities and tools they need to explore different career paths, discover what they enjoy and shape their futures with confidence." Both organisations look forward to expanding the partnership.
