However, there's a growing trend of male celebrities pausing their careers to prioritize time with their children and share parenting responsibilities with their partners.

Rob Beckett: From Comedy to Stay-at-Home Dad

This week, British comedian Rob Beckett received praise when he announced he was stepping back from his career to become a stay-at-home dad while his wife Lou promotes her new book. Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Rob admitted he plans to 'step up' now, confessing: 'I’ve been on tour, I couldn’t tell you what the kids are doing at school tomorrow. I know that sounds bad.'

He added on his Parenting Hell podcast: 'She took a career break to look after the kids while I crack on and now I'm stepping back a little bit so that she can have a bash of it and spread her wings.'

Hollywood Stars Who Prioritized Parenting

In Hollywood, several high-profile actors have deliberately taken steps back to be more present in their children's lives.

Chris Hemsworth: Family First in Byron Bay

Chris Hemsworth has spoken about how important his family is to him as a dad to his three children India Rose, 13, and 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan, who he shares with his wife Elsa Pataky.

Stepping back from Hollywood, he previously told Entertainment Tonight: 'I wanted to take off because I've been working for 10 years, and I've got three kids that I want to spend more time with.'

The couple relocated from the US in 2015 and now live in Byron Bay, Australia. Chris explained: 'I can focus on the more important things - I can hang out with my kids, I can hang with my wife, and we can go and have fun.'

Daniel Radcliffe: Selective Work After Fatherhood

After soaring to stardom as a young teen in the iconic Harry Potter franchise, Daniel Radcliffe made the choice to take a step back after welcoming his son with partner Erin Darke in April 2023.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said it was 'a privilege' to have time off with his son: 'I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do and so I'm able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely.'

Revealing how it would impact his career going forward, he said: 'I think I'm gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year. So, I will definitely be I think a bit more selective — not more selective, I've always been selective, but I think I'll probably work a little bit less for the next few years.'

Chance the Rapper: Postponed Tour for Family

Prior to his divorce from wife Kirsten Corley in 2024, Chance The Rapper went as far as to postpone his tour to be there after the birth of his second daughter Marli in 2019.

Taking to Instagram at the time, the musician penned: 'This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc. But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work.'

Brendon Urie: Ended Panic! At The Disco for Fatherhood

Panic At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie decided that it was time to call it quits on the band when he welcomed a son with wife Sarah in 2023.

He announced in a social media statement: 'Sarah and I are expecting a baby very soon! The prospect of being a father and getting to watch my wife become a mother is both humbling and exciting. I look forward to this next adventure. That said, I am going to bring this chapter of my life to an end and put my focus and energy on my family, and with that Panic! At The Disco will be no more.'

Adam Levine: Walked Away from $30 Million Paycheck

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine walked away from his $30 million pay check from The Voice in 2019 to be a stay-at-home dad for his daughters Gio Grace and Dusty Rose.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he admitted: 'I do miss it, but also, I don't miss how much I had to work. I was constantly working for so many years - very lucky, very fortunate, very blessed and all that - but to just be able to stop in this moment to spend time with my new young family and just have the greatest time ever.'

Dave Grohl: Rockstar Dad Routine

Dave Grohl has shared his determination to take his daughters to school every morning despite his hectic schedule as one of the biggest rockstars in the world.

Back in 2014, he offered a glimpse into his morning routine during an appearance on Ellen, explaining that his day starts at 5:45am with preparing 'snack packs' and breakfast before a 45-minute commute to school.

In a 2018 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Dave admitted that he turned down huge gigs after being told that he could miss one of his daughter's birthdays, and even flew back from Australia between shows to attend a father/daughter dance.

Ryan Reynolds: Stepping Back to Be Present

Ryan Reynolds shares children James, 11, Inez, nine, Betty, six, and Olin, two, with his wife Blake Lively. Back in 2021, Ryan announced he was stepping back to be more present in his children's lives.

Speaking to LinkedIn, he said: 'The biggest thing for me…is that I don't want to miss this time with my kids. When I'm shooting a film, I'm oftentimes in Europe, I'm away, there are incredibly long hours, it's a ton of constant, kind of requirement to be there the whole time.'

Chris Pratt: Six Months Off for Quality Time

In 2016, Chris Pratt took six months off work to spend quality time with his son Jack, who was at the time four, and his ex-wife Anna Faris.

The actor told People magazine at the time: 'I’ve been on the road for 14 months - I did three movies back-to-back-to-back - so I’m taking six months off. It's nice not to have time to myself but to have time with my family.'

Dave Chappelle: Left $50 Million Contract for Family

Back in 2005, Dave Chappelle made the decision to leave his $50 million contract hit show with Comedy Central to focus on family life.

Returning to the stage in 2014, he told People: 'I never stopped being on stage. What I did was step off of the main stage because those lights were hot, and I was trying to do other things with my life. That kind of attention wouldn't have been conducive to raising a family.'

After the birth of his first two children, Dave and his family moved to a small town in Ohio in 2006, where they have chosen to raise their kids out of the spotlight.
