Discover Rewarding Careers in the NHS: A Call for Apprentices During National Apprenticeship Week

Explore a Career in the NHS
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, individuals are being urged to consider a career in the NHS. Last year, over 20,000 people embarked on NHS apprenticeships, creating pathways for career development and enhancing staffing levels.
Diverse Opportunities Await
Amanda Lyes, the director of workforce and people at Suffolk and North East Essex ICB, emphasized the variety of rewarding careers available within the NHS. These include:
- Frontline nurses
- Healthcare support workers
- Digital and analytical specialists
- Enabling functions such as HR or administration.
Earn While You Learn
NHS apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with educational learning, allowing participants to earn while they learn. Qualifications offered range from level 2 to master's degrees in both medical and non-medical roles.
Real-Life Impact
Rob Blowers, who completed an apprenticeship in learning disability nursing, shared his experience: "As an older student with a mortgage and other responsibilities, leaving my job to study full-time was not an option for me. But with the apprenticeship route, I could learn while I earned."
Celebrate Apprenticeship Week
National Apprenticeship Week runs until February 16, 2025, highlighting the value and opportunities that apprenticeships provide.
