Some major biopharma employers will be exhibiting at the NIBRT Careers Fair later this week.
This Saturday (29 March), the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) will hold its annual Careers in Biopharma event. Now in its 11th year, the 2025 event will be hosted at O’Reilly Hall, University College Dublin (UCD) and is an opportunity for recent graduates and professionals to meet with industry leaders about kick-starting their career or transitioning into the industry.
Attendees will not only meet top employers but also listen to talks from experts about current trends and advancements in biopharma, explore training programmes, and build connections with peers.

AbbVie
Research-driven pharma player AbbVie is one of the top life sciences companies globally, producing Humira, which treats various ailments such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. AbbVie employs 2,900 people across six sites in Ireland and recently expanded its Cork site, creating 70 new jobs.
Amgen
International biotechnology firm Amgen develops therapeutics for serious illnesses, operating a major facility in Dún Laoghaire. The company has invested $100m in new site infrastructure and expanded its operations by acquiring Horizon Therapeutics.
APC and VLE Therapeutics
Irish multinational APC and VLE Therapeutics manufacture medicines for various conditions. They announced a €100m expansion to double their team and build a new R&D centre.
BioMarin
Founded over 20 years ago, BioMarin has invested significantly in its Cork manufacturing plant, with plans for further expansion.

BMS announced a $400m investment to expand its Dublin facility, creating 350 additional roles.

Global healthcare company Grifols employs around 20,000 people globally, with plans to create 200 new jobs in Ireland.

A subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson focusing on pharmaceutical treatments, with a strong presence in Ireland since 1981.

MSD has announced plans to create 100 new jobs in Carlow and aims to hire 1,000 people across various counties in Ireland.

As the largest biopharma company, Pfizer has a significant presence in Ireland, manufacturing vaccines and medicines across several therapeutic areas.
Sanofi
French global biopharmaceutical company Sanofi produces drugs for various therapeutic disciplines and has invested significantly in its Waterford campus.
