Empowering Women in Golf: Careers Beyond the Fairway

A Shift in the Golf Landscape
Female participation in golf has been on the rise, breaking the stereotypes of it being a "man's game." More women are not only playing but also building successful careers in the sport.
Spotlight on Kirsten Thorpe
Kirsten Thorpe, who joined the Fairmont St Andrews resort as a golf operations assistant in December 2022, exemplifies this shift. Her role involves preparing the Torrance and Kittocks courses for daily visitors, managing inquiries, and supporting retail sales.
Recently, Kirsten was accepted into the women in golf leadership programme run by the R&A, with aspirations to organize golfing events aimed at encouraging more women and girls to engage in the sport.
