Exploring Future Careers: Elliott Hudson College Students Dive into the FMCG Industry at Calbee UK

A group of 12 students and two staff members from Elliott Hudson College in Leeds recently embarked on an enlightening visit to Calbee UK, the home of Seabrook crisps in Bradford. This visit provided them with a unique insight into the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, showcasing the latest technologies in snack production and the diverse career opportunities available within the sector.

During the visit, students were given a rare factory tour, where they witnessed firsthand the innovative production processes that make Calbee UK a leader in the crisp and snack market. The session also highlighted how their current business curriculum aligns with real-world applications in the FMCG industry.

Martin France, Group Sales Director at Calbee UK, emphasized the importance of introducing young people to the FMCG sector: "Working in FMCG is fast-paced, exciting, and competitive. We need to encourage young people to aspire to roles that offer learning, earning, and progression opportunities."

Clare Lucas, Assistant Principal and Careers Leader at Elliott Hudson College, expressed gratitude for the visit, noting its value in providing students with real-life workplace examples. "It's one thing to talk about career opportunities, but seeing them in action is invaluable," she said.

The visit concluded with a Q&A session with Calbee UK's Senior Leadership Team, offering students the chance to ask about the organization's future plans and how they could secure roles within the company post-graduation. Each student left with a goody bag of snacks, a sweet reminder of their insightful day.
